How the Guardian Program Works

A guardian family welcomes a carefully selected Conner Creek dog into their home with no purchase price. In return, the family provides daily love and care while supporting her role in the breeding program. Placements depend on the program’s needs and are never guaranteed. You may express interest in a Cavapoo, Cavalier, or either; Dan selects the specific dog.

Dan retains ownership and breeding rights during the program. After the program is completed and she is spayed at Conner Creek’s expense, ownership is transferred through a separate written agreement. Retirement timing and participation details are reviewed before placement.

This interest form is the first step. It is not a reservation or a placement agreement. If a suitable opportunity arises, Dan will contact selected households for a more detailed application and discussion before any commitment.

What Guardian Families Provide

  • A loving home, daily companionship, training, and dependable communication with Dan.

  • Food, grooming, and everyday care. Cost responsibilities are reviewed before placement as the program develops.

  • A schedule with an adult home most of the day. Approximately four hours alone per day is a general guideline, with occasional exceptions. It is not a daily care arrangement elsewhere.

  • For vacations, getaways, and extended absences, guardians arrange the stay with Dan in advance and bring the dog to him. No dog daycare, dog parks, boarding, or routine pet sitters. Daily drop-off with Dan is not available.

  • Make the dog available to Dan as needed for veterinary appointments, vaccinations, health care, and breeding responsibilities.

What Conner Creek Handles

Dan provides guidance and makes breeding and placement decisions. Dan coordinates all veterinary care with his chosen veterinarian. Conner Creek covers breeding-related veterinary expenses. Guardians do not arrange veterinary care themselves and must make the dog available to Dan for appointments as needed.

Time Away for Heat Cycles and Puppies

During each heat cycle, she stays with Dan for approximately two weeks or the entire heat, whether or not she is bred. She then returns to her guardian home.

If pregnant, she returns to Dan approximately one week before birth and stays through the puppies’ first eight weeks, about nine weeks total. A strong guardian home is comfortable with these planned periods apart and stays in communication with Dan.
